There’s one song from Comix Zone that I’ve always really loved, and it sounds insanely like “Man in the Box” by Alice in Chains. So much so I decided to do a mash-up of the two. I used Layne Staley’s original (unfortunately censored from Guitar Hero) vocals. Also added the Comix Zone intro sound for a bonus. |

“Open Your Heart” is one of my most favorite and nostalgic tunes from the early 3D Sonic era. I’ve always wanted to a cover of it, and I finally got the opportunity. BUT I ACTUALLY SANG. OH DEAR SWEET JESUS. Yes, it was SnappleMan’s birthday for this Punchfest, so I wrote lyrics about him. The first Punchfest in a long time (8 months I believe). The theme was music from games that were designed to capitalize on already successful game formats (i.e. tons of games ripping off Mega Man gameplay). I didn’t come up with many original ideas, but per suggestion by Nick the Newbie I did “Goodnight, Baby!” from the soundtrack in a similar style to some techno type official soundtrack version I found elsewhere. Also I added quotes from Frost* songs “Hyperventilate” and “Milliontown.” |

housethegrate picked this theme, and I am painfully unfamiliar with Turbografx 16 soundtracks, but I knew about the TG16 version of the Ys I & II soundtrack from before, so I picked “The Tower of the Shadow of Death,” not only because it’s funky as hell, but because it has a hilariously wordy title. Which I, of course, made more ridiculous. |

So Danimal Cannon did this thing he entitled “Danimal Across America,” where he purchased an “All You Can Fly Pass” from Jetblue, which allows you to fly wherever and whenever you want (except in his case, no flying on Fridays or Sundays) for a whole month. He stopped off in Colorado for a few days and we put together a Punchfest just for the occasion. Colorado native remixers Ranger-X and Travis Moberg also came up for the awesomeness. If you’re wondering who does what guitar parts, here’s a breakdown.

Yes, more Toejam & Earl! Those games really DO have the best soundtracks ever. The bass in this song is almost as amazing as Lewenda’s Love, but also harder to play. Whatever!

So I think with this song FF6 is officially my most remixed game. The title is “Phantom Snake” because I arranged the song in the style of a James Bond or Metal Gear Solid secret agent man sneaking espionage type dealie. Solid Snake is the main character from many of the MGS games.

Do you like T-Square? I know I do. This song totally SCREAMED T-Square when I first heard it, so I did the arrangement in T-Square fashion. Not proud of the fake sax or lead guitars, I’ll fix them later.
